Booker Prize winnerS 2019

Margaret Atwood and Bernardine Evaristo have been named the joint winners of the 2019 Booker Prize after the judges broke their rules by declaring a tie.

Atwood's 'The Testaments',  follow-up to The Handmaid's Tale, won alongside Evaristo's 'Girl, Woman, Other'.

The pair will split the literary award's £50,000 prize money equally.

The Booker rules say the prize must not be divided, but the judges insisted they "couldn't separate" the two works.

Atwood, 79, is the oldest ever Booker winner, while Evaristo is the first black woman to win.

Summer Reading 2019

We asked staff and students to tell us what they were reading, and where they were reading their books, during the Summer break.

Whether you are travelling or at home for the half-term break, borrow a book from your school or public library and keep on reading. We would love to hear what  you have read, on your return to school.

At TRS we celebrate our lovely Libraries every week but you might be interested to know that 7 - 12 October 2019 is "Libraries week".  Libraries Week is a celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries.  Why not pop along and celebrate your Library; school, college, university, public or workplace?
