Windrush Day 2021
22 June is Windrush Day when we remember the around 500 migrants from the Caribbean who arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex in 1948 on the MV Empire Windrush passenger Liner. This video, narrated by Baroness (Floella) Benjamin of Beckenham, tells the story of the Windrush generation.
We recently bought Benjamin Zephaniah's book Windrush Child which tells the story of Leonard, a Windrush Child, and lays bare the reality of the Windrush scandal.
