Bloomsday

Tuesday June 16 2020 is Bloomsday!

Bloomsday celebrates the day depicted in the influential author James Joyce's novel Ulysses.

The novel follows a single day in the life of Leopold Bloom, and each of the 18 chapters was written in a different style, described by the British Library as 'a dazzling range of innovations'.  Ulysses was feted as overturning traditional modes of writing. We are not going to pretend Ulysses is an easy read, but if you fancy getting a taste of Joyce why not start with his short stories, The Dubliners for free?
