The Henrietta Branford Writing Competition 2018

The Henrietta Branford Writing Competition 2018  is an annual competition for young people, which runs alongside The Branford Boase Award for new authors of a children's book and their editors.  

Open to any young writers under the age of 19, entrants must complete a story begun by last year’s winner of the Branford Boase Award, M G Leonard for Beetle Boy.

The story should be between 800 and 1000 words long and the closing date is Saturday, 21st April 2018.  For more information and to find M G Leonard's starting paragraph visit The Henrietta Branford Writing Competition 2018 - rules etc.

The Branford Boase Award long list includes The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr and A Girl Called Owl by Amy Wilson, both of which are available to borrow from the Discovery and War Memorial Libraries.  The shortlist is announced on 2nd May and the winner in July 2018.
